Mealime shutting down? A macro-first alternative

Mealime has told users it will be discontinued on October 21, 2026. If you are looking for somewhere to plan meals next, here is an honest look at what MacroCrafted does today, and what it does not do yet.

What Mealime has said

Mealime’s closing page states that the app “will be discontinued as of October 21, 2026.” Until then, Pro subscribers are not charged additional fees, and Pro recipes and features become available to all users as the paid plans wind down. Users are pointed to Meals Hub, which is available in Albertsons Companies grocery apps and requires an account there. Some preferences will need to be set up again inside Meals Hub. The page also says all personal data will be deleted when the application is shut down (Mealime, closing notice). We did not find a data export described on that page. If one exists, use it.

What you are leaving is a weekly planner with a grocery list built for you and quick recipes, according to Mealime’s own description (Mealime home page).

An honest side-by-side

We would rather be exact about this than win the page. The right column says what MacroCrafted does today and what is still on the way.

What we are still building

Two of the things people ask us about first, a weekly plan with a grocery list and recipe import, are not finished. Below are the spaces where screenshots will go. We would rather leave the slot honest than fill it with a mockup.

Placeholder. A screenshot goes here once the weekly plan and grocery list ship.

Moving over, practically

  1. Write down the handful you actually cook. Most people rotate through fewer recipes than their app holds. Save the ingredient lists while Mealime is still open.
  2. Set your targets. The calculator gives a starting point for calories and macros, with a rationale for each number. Edit them to match anything a professional has told you.
  3. Rebuild one dinner. Enter the ingredients, see the macros, and let the engine adjust grams. Once import lands, paste or link the recipe instead of typing it in.

Where Mealime may suit you better

If you want a large catalog of ready-made weeknight recipes with minimal setup, and you do not track macros, a recipe-first app is a better fit than ours, and Meals Hub is the successor Mealime itself points to. We built MacroCrafted for people who care about the numbers in the meal. If that is you, we would be glad to have you.
